December 2nd, 2009

I skipped a week of blogging. No, this was not accidental. It was Thanksgiving break from Tuesday afternoon until this past weekend. Before that, I was attending the American Model United Nations conference in Chicago.  A week without classes, but this week I am catching up. This weeks counts at least as a double week of classes.

Model UN was great. I loved talking to many new people and seeing how students simulate the UN. I also loved Chicago and the great Hilton Chicago that we were staying in. The College of Wooster paid for our hotel and our transportation, so I only had to pay for food.

New York City was great too. I had been to New York twice before, so I could now enjoy the city without the pressure of having to visit all the touristic highlights. I stayed with friends of my girlfriend. They rent a small apartment on 62nd street between 1st and 2nd avenue. A very nice location for such an expensive city. New York was busier than I had ever experienced it. The black Friday shopping was insane. There were masses of people on the streets, in the stores, everywhere.

Unfortunately, I had a big project due on the Monday after break. It was a matrix project and it had given me much stress during my “free” time. I finally managed to finish it on Tuesday. Our professor had given us a one day extension that I very much needed. Now, I can just hope his grading will be friendly.

Tomorrow, I have my term paper for my principles of Rhetoric class due. I hope that my professor won’t read this blog because of the information that I will share with you right now: I have less than one page done. I am analyzing an article that accuses Obama of using mass hypnosis. I read the 67-page article and I have some sources I can draw on, but all the writing still needs to happen. I have just been doing some research on how to pull an all-nighter. The bottom line is: drink plenty of water, eat proteins, don’t nap longer than 20 minutes, keep your window open, dim your screen, take short breaks, think positive thoughts. I hope this will get me through the night. I know it won’t be fun, but it needs to be done. This is the last big project of the year 2009 (excluding finals) and I want to do well on it. Saturday, I will let you know how it went. Whatever the result, it will be turned in by then.
